Opposites in One
How is it that you can hate someone and love them at the same time? How can they make you so happy and so sad? Bring such joy and such sorrow? Fear and delight? All in one, sometimes at the same time. It boggles my mind. And breaks my heart.

Ahh, Family.
...or close friends. But that's exactly the way it should be: To experience such joy from someone requires you to be incredibly close and open with them - which means a greater chance of hurt.
Spouses and children, for example, are capable of bringing us the greatest sorrow - specifically because most of the time they bring the greatest joy.
