Veto on Stem Cell Research
I rarely get political but I have to say that I completely disagree with President Bush's veto of stem cell research approval. I think that it is important research that there is little reason to argue against (and yes, I do know the objections, but I don't happen to agree with their premise).

Yeh i agree. I mean, do they expect us to respect their silly religious rules and ideas? Especially when ours are obviously so much more enlightened... just ask any aguna...

I honestly don't really understand how this is an issue of our religion vs. theirs. The article clearly states that "The bill he vetoed Wednesday would have allowed research on fresh lines drawn from surplus embryos destined to be destroyed by fertility clinics."
That seems, to me, to be in contradiction to the statement by Bush that the reason he opposes the lift on the ban is that "Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical.”
I don't understand what human life is being destroyed here if we are talking about embryos that have already been aborted and will never be considered "life." I'm certainly not advocating murder, or abortion, in an effort to do this research, I just think that the resources that are there already should at the least, have the opportunity to make a positive impact.
